Intel announced Xeon 6 branding for new generation!

Ana sayfa / Processor

Intel discussed AI and server processors at its Vision 2024 event. The hardware giant announced that it will combine its upcoming Granite Ridge and Sierra Forest chips under the Xeon 6 model. With this step, Intel wants to move away from confusing model names. So what will the Xeon 6 series offer?

Intel has turned over a new leaf with the Core Ultra series announced last year. Abandoning the iconic “i” branding, the company wants to make processor naming easier. The latest model to be affected by this strategy is the server family.

The new Xeon 6 will make it easier for customers to understand Intel’s data center product line. Intel currently has 32 Xeon models focused on different operations. In addition, these models have sub-brands such as Platinum, Gold and Silver.

Users of these programs face Windows 11 update issues!

Prior to the major 2024 Windows 11 update coming this fall, certain installed programs are causing update issues for users.

Intel has announced that it will not change the Xeon 5 Emerald Rapids chip nomenclature. However, with Xeon 6, all new server processors will be unified under a single model.

The first Xeon model to use Intel’s fully efficient core architecture will be Sierra Forest. Sierra Forest’s E-core design targets scalable cloud and microservices loads. It also promises a 2.4x performance improvement and 2.7x more efficiency per watt.

Xeon 6’s P-core will be called Granite Rapids. It will offer software support for the MXFP4 data format. This will reduce latency in server processing by up to 6.5 times. It will also pave the way for artificial intelligence models such as Meta Llama-2 to be used in servers.
