In today’s world, how major companies treat their employees, the working conditions they provide, and the treatment they receive have become more important than ever: Recently, reports suggesting that Amazon may not be treating its employees well have resurfaced.
Amazon responds immediately to the issue
Drivers working within Amazon’s delivery network often struggle to take breaks during their long working hours due to tight schedules. Among the claims is that drivers are relieving themselves in plastic bottles instead of taking bathroom breaks.
Some of these complaints have led employees to question how they are managing Amazon’s workload. Many drivers have stated that they are not allowed to take breaks while sticking to their delivery routes, making it difficult to meet even their basic biological needs.
Recently, a user on Reddit claimed that Amazon employees are prohibited from even moving their lips to the tune of a song playing on the radio during deliveries. The company, however, denies such claims, stating that all necessary breaks are provided to employees and that the working conditions are very good.
Following the ‘singing along to songs’ allegation on Reddit, Amazon’s PR department released a statement: “This post on Reddit is completely false. Amazon has never issued a directive or communication prohibiting Delivery Service Partners from singing in their vehicles,” said the PR manager, referencing a video that shows a typical day in the life of Amazon employees.
