With the new iOS 17.4 update, Apple has made significant changes, particularly targeting the EU region. Here are the features of iOS 17.4:

Users in the European Union (EU) can now choose an alternative app store as their default app store on iPhones. Users now have the option to use full-text transcripts for all podcasts on Apple Podcasts. These transcripts enhance the listening experience and increase accessibility for users with hearing impairments. Users can now use the SharePlay feature with HomePod.

This allows multiple people to listen to Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, and other audio content via HomePod. iOS 17.4 includes new emoji characters like lemon, brown mushroom, phoenix, broken chain, head shaking vertically (yes), and head shaking horizontally (no).

Additionally, the 18 people and body emojis now have the option to face both directions. iOS 17.4 is also prepared for the new CarPlay set to be launched in the US in 2024. There’s a security update in iMessage addressing a vulnerability. Code hints at future features like Apple Music Classical, family sharing for Fitness+ subscriptions, and a new operating system for AR/VR.
