Apple is preparing to announce iOS 17 at the WWDC 2023 on June 5. Although many features of the new update have been leaked, it is now revealed that it will offer a smart screen-like experience. According to Bloomberg’s report, iOS 17 will enhance widget support, allowing iPhones to be used like smart display.
iPhone turning into smart display with iOS 17
One of the key features of iOS 17, as stated in Bloomberg’s report, will be a revamped lock screen that turns the iPhone into a smart display. With this new feature, users will be able to see their calendar, notifications, and alarms on the lock display.
iOS 17 will bring the design of popular devices like Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest Hub to the iPhone. According to Bloomberg’s claims, thanks to the new feature, when the iPhone is placed on its side, the lock display will transform into a dynamic and informative interface. Users will be able to access important information without unlocking the device.
In fact, Google already offers a similar lock display feature. The feature was introduced with Android 10, but it doesn’t have the ability to display many functions. That’s why Apple is working on a design similar to the Amazon Fire tablet.
The introduction of the interactive lock screen with iOS 17 demonstrates Apple’s commitment to smart home technologies. By integrating smart displays and other devices, the company promises to provide users with a broader ecosystem.
In addition to the iOS 17 update, it is expected that Apple will make a major design change focusing on widgets for watchOS.
