Apple’s highly-anticipated new iPad mini 7 has been quietly released recently, but it has also gained an important place with its features. The new generation mini tablet comes with the A17 Pro chip. That’s why it was compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max with the same chip. However, according to the first Geekbench tests, there are small differences between them.

The iPad mini 7 offers a big performance boost with its A17 Pro processor, but this chip is not exactly the same as the version used in the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The mini 7 uses a 5-core GPU instead of the 6-core GPU in the iPhone.

The iPad mini 7 scores 2,847 in the single-core test, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max scores 2,925. In the multi-core test, the iPad mini scores 7,042 points, slightly behind the iPhone’s 7,299 points. The differences are very small, only 2.7% in single-core and a minimal 3.5% in multi-core.

It’s not just the GPU core count, but also software updates. iPad mini 7 was tested with iPadOS 18.0, while iPhone 15 Pro Max was running iOS 18.1. So, the iPad mini 7 may be able to close these differences with future software updates.

At the end of the day, these differences are too small to be noticeable in everyday use. In the end, iPad mini 7 is a device positioned between a tablet and a phone with its powerful performance and compact design. It should be noted that this comparison is only chip-specific.
