Apple’s iconic iPad mini, a tablet that fits anywhere and does everything, is preparing to raise the bar beyond expectations with its next generation. The latest leaked information about the iPad mini 8 suggests Apple will transform this small tablet into a true performance beast.
A20 Pro Surprise: iPhone 18 Power in a Small Case
Leaked code from internal iOS 26 versions reveals that Apple is already conducting serious tests on the next-generation mini. Initially, it was rumored that the iPad mini 8 would come with the A19 Pro processor, expected to be used in the iPhone 17 Pro. However, recent reports shared by Weibo leaker Kang indicate that Apple has shifted its focus directly to the A20 Pro chip.
If these claims prove true, the iPad mini 8 will share the same processor as the iPhone 18 Pro and Apple’s first foldable phone. Expected to be Apple’s first 2nm architecture processor, the A20 Pro promises 15% faster and 30% more efficient performance than current 3nm chips. This means the mini will be an unrivaled powerhouse for console-quality gaming and AI processing.
The big change iPad mini fans have been waiting for for years is finally happening. The iPad mini 8 is rumored to be equipped with an 8.5-inch OLED panel. This will be a first for the mini series and will bring the following advantages:
- Infinite Contrast: Much deeper blacks and vibrant colors than LCD.
- Thin Bezels: Although the screen size is increasing from 8.3 inches to 8.5 inches, the chassis size is expected to remain the same.
- Improved Battery Life: The energy efficiency of OLED panels, combined with the massive A20 Pro processor, can significantly increase usage time.
- Note: The screen is expected to remain at 60Hz, not 120Hz (ProMotion) like professional models.
Apple is reportedly targeting the third quarter of 2026 (September/October) for the iPad mini 8. This date coincides with the launch of the iPhone 18 series. While plans are subject to change, leaks suggest Apple is determined to make its smallest tablet the most “premium” and powerful it has ever had.
