The production of the new iPad Pro display has delayed, but when will the unveiling date be?
Apple has been planning for the first iPad with an OLED display for quite some time. It is estimated that the iPad Pro OLED will come in two screen sizes: 11.1 inches and 12.9 inches. Apple, not relying solely on a single supplier for OLED display production, has partnered with both LG and Samsung. LG, responsible for producing the OLED display for the iPad Pro 11.1, managed to produce enough panels for March.
On the other hand, Samsung is manufacturing the massive 12.9-inch OLED iPad display. However, it has been revealed that things are progressing slowly on Samsung’s end. The undisclosed unveiling date for the iPad Pro and iPad Air, which has been discussed since February, is also influenced by these display production issues. It is anticipated that Apple will unveil the new iPad Pro OLED within a few days.
If Apple plans to unveil the iPad Pro (2024) models within this month, the first shipments are expected to occur within April. There’s a possibility for the company to meet the production deadline for the iPad Pro 11.1-inch version by the end of March. However, the fact that Samsung is manufacturing a much larger OLED display has also put Apple in a dilemma.
According to the leaked information, even if Apple unveils the iPad Pro (2024) and iPad Air (2024) models in early April, the release of the 12.9-inch version of the iPad Pro may extend until the end of April in countries like the USA and Canada.
It’s almost certain now that the iPad Pro OLED models will come in two versions, 11.1 inches and 12.9 inches. Similarly, there is strong speculation that the iPad Air models will also come in two versions for the first time, 10.9 inches and 12.9 inches. However, it’s unclear whether Apple will prepare a dedicated event for the announcement of the new iPad Pro and iPad Air models.
