Apple may have quietly introduced an important innovation to its iPhone 12 lineup. Tests by iPhone 12 owners show that the device achieves 15W wireless speed with the Qi2 charging standard. This represents a first for iPhone 12 in four years.

While Apple didn’t announce any changes in the release notes, it turns out that iOS 17.4 brings support for the Qi2 wireless charging standard to the iPhone 12 series. Tests conducted by some users showed that the iPhone 12 achieved 15W charging speed wirelessly.

Apple’s official MagSafe chargers support 15W wireless charging speeds. The next version of the Qi wireless charging standard, Qi2, has several improvements in efficiency and magnetic alignment. Although inspired by MagSafe technology, it offered slower charging speeds on the iPhone series.

The price of the PUBG monster Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has been announced!

Samsung announced the price of the renewed Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) model, which was released recently.

Since the iOS 17.4 update, it has been revealed that the iPhone 12 has reached the speed of MagSafe with the Qi2 charger. According to this, it is possible to charge iPhone 12 wirelessly at 15W thanks to Qi2 support. Third-party manufacturers such as Belkin and Anker have Qi2 wireless chargers.

The iPhone 12, first introduced in 2020, did not have Qi2 support when it was released. iOS 17.4 seems to have retroactively unlocked wireless charging features. In this way, iPhone 12 owners can access third-party wireless charging options without the need for a MagSafe charger.

However, Apple has not yet made an official statement about this change. Qi2 support could help boost adoption of the new standard, but Apple hasn’t shared any release note changes.
