iPhone 12 sales ban lifted in France after iOS update

Ana sayfa / Technology

France banned the sale of the iPhone 12 with a shock decision earlier this month. Authorities found the smartphone’s radiation levels above normal, prompting other European countries and Apple to take action. An iOS update has now been released and it looks like the problem for the iPhone 12 ban has finally been solved.

iOS update for iPhone 12 solves radiation problem

French authorities have approved the iOS update that Apple released to iPhone 12 in recent weeks. They stated that the radiation problem was solved with the latest update. This means that the sales ban on iPhone 12 will be lifted.

For those who don’t remember, the decision to ban the iPhone 12 came from France around the time the iPhone 15 series was introduced. The reason was that the series was found to emit more radiation signals than it should.

Following France’s decision, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium took the iPhone 12 under review. Apple took action after this incident. First, it instructed its technical support team not to provide any information when consumers asked about radiation risks.

Apple didn’t tell this feature of iPhone 15 series

Apple is ushering in a brand new era with USB-C. So what innovations it brought to the iPhone 15 series with this big change.

Apple released the iPhone 12 update on September 23 and asked France’s telecommunications regulator ANFR to recheck it. ANFR said tests with the updated iPhone 12 were below the radiation limit.

The approval from the regulator signals the end of the sales ban on the iPhone 12 in France. In addition, iPhone 12 owners will not need to do anything other than installing the update.
