As September 12 approaches, excitement is building for the iPhone 15 series. With the unveiling event just around the corner, more information is surfacing about the iPhone 15 series, and analysts are making additional predictions. Now, rumors surrounding the iPhone 15 Pro Max, set to be unveiled at the “Wonderlust” event, bring disappointing news for eager users.
Storage of the iPhone 15 Pro Max may upset despite its price
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are reportedly set to be announced in less than a week, with rumors suggesting that Apple is planning a $100 price increase. While it’s believed that Apple may offset this price increase by increasing the base storage from 128 GB to 256 GB or higher, it appears that things may not turn out that way.
In a newly surfaced research note, TrendForce analysts are stating that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be available with the same 128 GB storage capacity as the iPhone 14 Pro series. Interestingly, the report claims that the price of the iPhone 15 Pro will remain unchanged at $999 compared to the iPhone 14 Pro. On the other hand, it suggests that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will see a $100 price increase and will be offered at $1199.
This contradicts other reports that suggest both the iPhone 15 Pro and its larger counterpart will see price increases this year. Regardless, TrendForce asserts that both models will have 128 GB of storage capacity, irrespective of any price changes.
TrendForce also contradicts previous rumors that claimed the iPhone 15 Pro would be available in a new 2 TB configuration this year, stating that the storage options will max out at 1 TB. Other analyst reports have attributed the price increase to two main factors: a new titanium chassis and a periscope camera.
TrendForce also mentions that the iPhone 15 Pro models will include 8 GB of RAM instead of the 6 GB found in the iPhone 14 Pro. If you were hoping for Apple to double the base storage to 256 GB, this may (at least based on this report) be wishful thinking. We’ll find out the accuracy of all of this very shortly.
