Critical developments are underway for Apple’s highly anticipated iPhone 17 series. Recent leaks reveal the launch date for the brand’s new phones. So, when will the iPhone 17 be unveiled? Here are the details!
iPhone 17 series to be unveiled on September 9th
Apple is preparing to unveil the iPhone 17 series at an event on September 9th. This year’s models include the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The previously rumored iPhone 17 Ultra is not part of this year’s plans.
One of the biggest changes to the series will likely be the arrival of a new Air model, replacing the Plus model. It also appears Apple has completely overhauled the design of some models.
The base model, the iPhone 17, maintains similar design lines to last year’s iPhone 16. According to a report shared by CIRP, this model accounted for the largest share of sales last year. The iPhone 17, which will be powered by Apple’s A19 processor, features a 6.3-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
It offers 8GB of RAM and a 24-megapixel TrueDepth front-facing camera. The rear camera setup consists of a 48MP Fusion and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. It comes with a battery capacity exceeding 3600mAh, storage options ranging from 128GB to 1TB, and a variety of colors including purple, green, blue, black, and white. The model, featuring an aluminum and glass body, is 7.8mm thick and has a US retail price of $799.
A notable innovation in the iPhone 17 series comes with the iPhone 17 Air. Apple has reduced the screen thickness to just 5.5mm. The Air stands out as the thinnest iPhone ever produced. This design-focused model comes with some hardware compromises.
The battery capacity is limited to 2900 mAh, while the camera setup is limited to a single 48 MP Fusion lens. The front camera is 24 MP. Apple is featuring its in-house developed C1 5G modem for the first time in this model. The Air model runs on a special variant of the A19 Pro processor with a smaller GPU.
The device, featuring 12 GB of RAM, is constructed using a combination of titanium and glass. Available in light blue, light gold, black, and silver, the iPhone 17 Air is available with 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB storage options. The price is set at $949 in the US.
The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max represent the top-tier of the series. These models maintain their screen sizes of 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively. However, the display side uses a new panel that is anti-reflective and more scratch-resistant.
The most notable change in the Pro models is the camera layout. This year, Apple is switching to a horizontal camera setup for the first time. The rear camera system consists of 48MP Fusion, 48MP ultra-wide, and 48MP telephoto lenses. The front camera, like all models, has been increased to 24MP resolution. Apple is opting for an aluminum and glass body for the Pro models.
These models do not feature the titanium material used in previous years. Cooling is achieved with a vapor chamber system. Storage options for models with 12GB of RAM start at 256GB and extend to 2TB.
The battery capacity is 3600mAh for the iPhone 17 Pro and 5000mAh for the Pro Max. The models will be available in four colors: orange, dark blue, silver, and black, and are 8.7mm thick. The iPhone 17 Pro will retail for $1049, while the Pro Max will retail for $1249.
Apple will also unveil the Apple Watch Series 11 and Watch Ultra 3 at the same event as the iPhone 17 series. The event will take place on September 9th. All iPhone 17 models will be made official at this event.
