Apple continues to keep up with the European Union’s regulations. The company, which has made major changes to iOS and the App Store under DMA policies, now has to change iPhone batteries. It turned out that the battery in the devices will be replaced with a shiny metallic coating starting this year.
Shiny metallic batteries will be used in iPhone
According to reports, metallic battery covers will first be used on the iPhone 16 series. In this context, it will be used in the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max in the first stage. It was also stated that Apple wants to prevent overheating problems with the metallic cover.
The European Union requires smartphone manufacturers to make batteries removable by unauthorized technicians starting next year. In this context, Apple will prefer batteries that can be removed with a small electric shock in new iPhones.
But there are questions about how easy the repair process will be. The company would have to give up displays glued to the chassis and proprietary screws used only on the iPhone. It is unclear how it will resolve these issues under its EU obligations.
According to previous leaks, the iPhone 16 Pro Max comes with a 6.9-inch screen. iPhone 16 Pro will come with a 6.3-inch screen. iPhone 16 Plus will retain its 6.7-inch screen size, while iPhone 16 will remain constant with its 6.1-inch screen. iPhone 16 Pro will have dimensions of 149.61 x 71.45 x 8.25 mm.
