Google has finally started rolling out the major update it hinted at last September. The iPhone Chrome Gemini integration, developed for iOS users, is now becoming a direct part of the browsing experience. Thanks to this new feature, the AI assistant is ready to accompany you on your web browsing.
How does the iPhone Chrome Gemini integration work?
When this feature is active, you’ll see that the classic Google Lens camera icon on the left side of the address bar has changed. Instead, there will be a page icon featuring Gemini’s famous sparkle symbol. When users tap on this area, they will be presented with two different options: “Scan Screen” (Lens) and “Ask Gemini”.
When you tap on “Ask Gemini,” the URL of the page you are currently on is shared with the AI, and a special window opens at the bottom of the screen. This window greets you with Gemini’s classic colorful sparkle. If you want to stop the sharing, simply tap the X in the corner.
With this integration, Google offers users the following practical shortcuts:
Summarize the page: Extract the main ideas and key points of long articles in seconds.
Create FAQs: Based on the page you’re reading and similar sources, you can generate a list of frequently asked questions on the topic.

Uses and other innovations
This feature isn’t limited to summarizing. You can ask it to explain a complex topic in simpler terms, test your knowledge of a newly learned subject, or request that it adapt a recipe to suit your diet. Gemini’s answers appear as a floating window on the webpage, allowing you to continue viewing the original content.
Currently, this feature is available to users in the US with an English-language browser. Also, you need to be logged into Chrome to use the feature, and it’s disabled in Incognito mode. Expected to reach a wider audience with Chrome version 143, the update also introduces the ability to use biometric authentication instead of CVC codes for online shopping.
