Debuting in select countries on November 14, iPhone Pocket stands out not with hardware, but with material intelligence. It’s formed from a singular knitted structure, crafted in Japan, that expands to snugly hold an iPhone or any pocketable item. The design nods to ISSEY MIYAKE’s iconic pleats, with ribbed textures that stretch, conceal, and reveal with a sense of tactility rarely seen in tech gear.
This isn’t just about aesthetics. The open-knit design allows users to peek at notifications, and the structure adapts to daily needs. It’s a new kind of pocket one you can wear, tie, or loop however you like.
Apple and ISSEY MIYAKE share a minimalist design ethos
According to Yoshiyuki Miyamae, design director at MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO, the goal was to create “an additional pocket” that users could wear their own way. That philosophy runs deep in both brands simplicity, versatility, and open interpretation drive the concept.
Apple’s own industrial design VP, Molly Anderson, echoed that sentiment. She highlighted how the iPhone Pocket’s form and color palette were made to align with any iPhone model or color encouraging playful combinations and personalized setups.

The short strap version comes in eight colors, while the long strap version lands in three. You can:
