With the advancement of technology, quantum processors have gained considerable attention. This technology, seen as a revolution in computer science, aims to surpass the limits of traditional computers and achieve a significant leap in computing power.
As a result, countries are constantly increasing their investments in this field. Iran, which also sought to be among these countries, recently admitted that the electronic device it introduced as a quantum processor was, in fact, a lie.
Iran confesses that the introduced electronic device does not have a quantum processor!
Last month, Iran organized a meeting on “Quantum Computing” at the Imam Khomeini Naval University in Noshahr, located in Mazandaran province. Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, the Deputy Coordinator of the Islamic Republic Army and former Navy Commander, spoke about new technological developments during the event.
Immediately after his remarks, Sayyari introduced a new electronic device, claiming to have a quantum processor. He emphasized that the technologies of quantum and plasma were crucial for the country’s future and mentioned that it was developed for use in the navy. These statements drew attention to Iran.
However, after some time, social media users shared posts indicating that the electronic device Iran claimed to have with a quantum processor was, in fact, the ZedBoard Zynq-7000 model development board produced by an American hardware company. This incident became a subject of mockery on social media.
Moreover, it was observed that the development board had 256 GB of storage space, 512 MB of DDR3 RAM, and a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor. It was also available for purchase online at a price ranging from $600 to $700. Upon examining the specifications of the development board, it was evident that there was no quantum processor or circuitry, or any quantum-related component. As a result, Iran once again became the subject of ridicule on social media.
Today, the long-awaited confession finally came. The Deputy Research Director of Imam Khomeini University announced that the electronic device claimed to have a quantum processor was, in fact, not true. Thus, the local press in the country and global media companies have exposed Iran’s deception.
