Xiaomi is changing its management structure while increasing its efforts in the field of electric vehicles. The company’s founder and CEO Lei Jun said in a recent statement that he wants to focus more on the automotive division. In this context, it will withdraw from smartphone operations.

Liu Weibing, currently Xiaomi Group President, will head smartphone operations. According to CEO Lei Jun, Weibing will have a role overseeing both Xiaomi and Redmi’s smartphones. On the other hand, Liu Weibing will be present at the next launches.

CEO Lei Jun aims to focus on automotive operations. Before the first model to be presented under the Xiaomi Auto brand, he stated that he will devote his work to electric vehicles. Liu Weibing will start his new role with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra launch.

CEO Lei Jun said, “Xiaomi SU7 is undergoing extensive road tests across the country and we are currently finalizing preparations for its launch. In order for me to focus more on the automobile business, we have decided that Group President Liu Weibing will also be the General Manager of the Xiaomi brand.”

Xiaomi aims to produce more than 2 thousand SU7s per month starting from March. After the first production to be taken until mid-2024, it wants to take 10 thousand vehicles off the line monthly.

Lei Jun will continue to serve as Xiaomi CEO, although he is handing over his management authority. He also assured that he will keep a close eye on the company’s smartphones. This means that Xiaomi will release both budget-friendly and high-end devices.
