Nissan has been seeking partnerships to continue its automotive operations for a while. After unsuccessful talks with Honda, the company has now set its sights on the U.S. According to reports, a potential deal between Nissan and Tesla was rumored to be in the works.
However, the Tesla-Nissan partnership will not happen.
According to the rumor, Nissan sought a strategic investment from Tesla in exchange for its factories in the U.S. But Tesla CEO Elon Musk rejected the idea of investing in Nissan.
According to claims by Financial Times, former Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, his former assistant Hiroto Izumi, and Tesla’s former board member Hiro Mizuno were among those supporting the Tesla-Nissan partnership.
OpenAI has detected that its AI models, including ChatGPT, are being used for purposes such as propaganda and fraud.
Some members of Nissan’s board were reportedly aware of this proposal. Following the news, Nissan’s stock saw a 9.5% increase on the stock market, the highest level since early January, when the company was in merger talks with Honda.
However, Musk made a statement rejecting the idea of Tesla investing in the Japanese automaker. In recent years, Nissan has faced challenges like leadership issues and declining profitability, which have hindered its efforts to invest in electric vehicle technology.
In fact, merger talks had also taken place with Foxconn, the Taiwanese company known for producing iPhones for Apple, and which has ambitious targets in the electric vehicle sector.
