While Apple’s newest iPhone models have just hit tech shelves, all eyes are already on the company’s next big innovation: the highly anticipated foldable iPhone. Reliable Bloomberg insider Mark Gurman has shared key details shedding light on the revolutionary device’s design, pricing, and potential release schedule. The iPhone Air appears poised to be a precursor to the foldable iPhone.
Two iPhone Airs side by side!
According to leaks, Apple will adopt a radical design language for its foldable phone. According to Gurman, the device will resemble two ultra-thin iPhone Airs placed side by side. This suggests that Apple’s foldable phone will be both extremely thin and aesthetically pleasing. The titanium body will add both durability and a premium feel to the device. This claim further fuels speculation in tech circles that the iPhone Air is a design experiment for a foldable model.
The foldable iPhone appears poised to take its place at the top of Apple’s product line. Gurman predicts the device’s starting price will be at least $2,000. Previous reports suggested the price tag could reach between $2,100 and $2,300. Regarding production, despite reports that preparations have begun in India, Gurman states that at least some of the production will definitely take place in China.
Apple is expected to unveil its first device in this new product category in the fall of 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 series. The launch is expected to take place in September, as is traditionally the case with the iPhone X in 2017. However, due to its completely new form factor, the device’s release is expected to be delayed until October or November.
