How to speed up your computer? Tips to boost your computer’s performance!
Using the methods we’ve prepared for you below, you can see a noticeable increase in speed on your computers.
After cleaning unnecessary files in the %temp% folder, deleting files from old updates and system errors can free up space and improve performance.
To do this:
- Use the Windows + R key combination to open the Run dialog.
- Type “cleanmgr” in the dialog and hit Enter.
- Select the disk you want to clean.
- Choose the disk where Windows files are installed and click OK.
- The system will scan for a while.
- You’ll be prompted to select the files you want to delete.
- Select the files you want to delete and proceed.
- Once the process is complete, old, unnecessary, and unused files will be deleted.
2. Disable unnecessary startup programs
Your computer launches several unnecessary programs when it starts up. For example, applications like Spotify or auto-starting sound system programs. To disable them:
- Right-click on the taskbar and open Task Manager.
- Go to the Startup tab.
- Right-click on the programs you don’t need or use and select Disable.
- Exit Task Manager.
3. Enable maximum core count
Activating the maximum number of cores and processors can help, especially during boot time. While not visibly obvious, it can improve performance. To apply this method:
- Use the Windows + R key combination to open the Run dialog.
- Type “msconfig” in the dialog and hit Enter.
- Go to the Boot tab in msconfig.
- Select your Windows version and click on Advanced options.
- Check the number of processors box and increase the count to maximum.
- Click Apply and restart your computer.
4. Disable animations
Your operating system wants to look good to you, similar to how makeup enhances appearance. An operating system’s “makeup” includes window animations, start menu animations, etc. Disabling these animations can benefit your graphics card and memory. To disable animations:
- Right-click on the “This PC” icon.
- In the new menu, click on “Advanced system settings.”
- Go to the Advanced tab and click on the Settings button under the Performance section.
- Disable the animations you find unnecessary.
