Europe’s perennial leader: Istanbul Airport tops with 1485 daily flights

Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that Istanbul Airport maintains its status as the busiest airport in Europe with an average of 1485 daily flights. According to the European Aviation Overview Report published by the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL), Istanbul Airport managed to surpass Paris Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Airports with this performance.

Commenting on EUROCONTROL’s report for July 15-21, Uraloğlu stated that Turkey ranked 6th among the countries with the busiest traffic volume in Europe with an average of 3,959 flights per day from its airports. Istanbul Airport maintains its title as the busiest airport in Europe with an average of 1485 daily flights. Among the 25 global airports, it ranked 7th worldwide with an average of 745 daily aircraft departures on the same dates.

This success of Istanbul Airport has made it stand out as the airport representing Europe at the highest level in the world ranking. Antalya Airport ranks 8th among the busiest airports in Europe with an average of 1036 daily flights.

Uraloğlu stated that Antalya Airport is ahead of Palma de Mallorca and Rome Fiumicino airports and that there is an average delay of 7.5 minutes per flight in EUROCONTROL airspace.
