CD Projekt Red announced that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold more than 25 million copies worldwide. With this figure, Cyberpunk 2077 also confirmed that it managed to sell faster than the popular RPG game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Cyberpunk 2077 reaches 25 million copies sold
During a presentation at CD Projekt Red’s investor meeting, CEO Adam Kiciński discussed reports on Cyberpunk 2077. According to this, despite the controversial launch in 2020, it reached 25 million sales thanks to updates such as 2.0 and Phantom Liberty.
This is an increase of five million over the figure reported during the same period last year. Cyberpunk 2077 reached 25 million sales nearly 34 months after launch. The Witcher 3 reached 25 million only four and a half years later.
Kiciński also revealed that the recently released Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, Phantom Liberty, sold three million units in its first week of release. Phantom Liberty sold 68 percent on PC, 20 percent on PlayStation 5 and 13 percent on Xbox Series X/S.
Despite Cyberpunk 2077’s lackluster launch, CD Projekt Red has managed to turn things around. With steady updates and DLC, it helped its sales surpass The Witcher 3.
CD Projekt Red also announced that they are working on a live-action project inspired by Cyberpunk 2077. This production, which does not have many details about it, is expected to be released as a series.
