The United States is going through an interesting presidential election process like never before:After Donald Trump’s near-death experience following an assassination attempt, now 81-year-old presidential candidate Joe Biden has been diagnosed with COVID-19.
Social media is debating whether the US can find a healthy candidate.
White House: Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19
US President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement from the White House. Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told Business Insider, “President Biden learned after his first event in Las Vegas that he tested positive for COVID-19. The President, who is vaccinated and has received his booster dose, is showing mild symptoms. He will return to Delaware to self-isolate and will continue to fully fulfill all his duties during this time,” he said in a statement.
Biden, who has long been rumored to be unhealthy, even lacking the mental health to be President of the United States, will now have to deal with COVID-19.
Biden, 81, has been in Nevada since Monday night and was scheduled to speak at the UnidosUS conference in Las Vegas on Wednesday. Janet Murguía, CEO of UnidosUS, informed conference attendees that Biden had tested positive for COVID-19 after arriving an hour and a half late for his scheduled speaking event, according to CNN.
After the news was announced, there were thousands of different comments on social media. While there was humor about whether the US can find a healthy presidential candidate, there were also US citizens who stated that Biden should withdraw from the race.
