Chinese smartphone giants have decided to take an important step for their app stores. According to Oppo, vivo and Xiaomi, only apps that support 32-bit architecture will be retired in the coming period.

The Golden Label Alliance, an alliance of three smartphone manufacturers, has sent an important notice to users in China. Accordingly, developers will need to make their apps 64-bit supported in order to stay listed in stores and receive updates.

64-bit support has become important as more and more Android smartphones use 64-bit processors. Having only 32-bit support can limit an app’s compatibility with new devices. It can also lead to performance or security issues.

The charging features of the Galaxy S24 FE model, developed by Samsung and expected to be introduced in the coming months, have been unveiled.

Of course, Google Play Store stands out as the application store on the Android front. The Play Store, which ended its support for only 32-bit applications years ago, switched to 64-bit applications in this context. A similar step came from Chinese companies.

Oppo, vivo and Xiaomi want to ensure that apps are safer, more efficient and of higher quality with the latest step. It advised developers to complete the 64-bit requirement as soon as possible so that apps are not removed.

90 percent of apps in Oppo, vivo and Xiaomi’s app stores support the 64-bit version. However, it should be noted that only 32-bit software that has not been updated will be removed.
