The Just Cause video game series, first published by Avalanche Software in 2006, is finally coming to the big screen. The protagonist of the game series, secret agent Rico Rodriguez, is on a mission to conquer an island or archipelago and overthrow tyrannical leaders.

After more than 10 years of waiting, the Just Cause movie is finally coming to life. Universal Pictures has taken on the project, following successful movie adaptations of Super Mario Bros. and Five Nights at Freddy’s.

The film’s producers Kelly McCormick and David Leitch are leading the project under their 87North banner. The team, which previously produced Nobody starring Bob Odenkirk and The Fall Guy starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, has high hopes for Just Cause.

Puerto Rican director Ángel Manuel Soto is in the director’s chair. Soto made the transition from documentaries and short films to Hollywood with Blue Beetle. Bringing this team together increases the potential of a movie adaptation of Just Cause. However, it is not yet clear how the movie will take shape and who will play the lead role of Rico Rodriguez.

New Resident Evil remakes on the way! CODE: Veronica and Zero are coming back

Capcom has announced new remake projects that will delight Resident Evil fans. Let's take a look at the details together!

The Just Cause series was first released in 2006, and at the time it was notable for its vast open world and more than 300 side missions. Although the game looked like a copy of Grand Theft Auto, it managed to build its own audience over time. Just Cause 2, released in 2010, raised the bar for the series with its popular grappling hook mechanic and destructible buildings.

Just Cause 3 and Just Cause 4 did not receive the expected attention from critics due to the open-world game genre’s inability to compete with other big titles like Assassin’s Creed.

Despite this, Just Cause has always had the potential to be adapted into a movie. After many years of struggles, Universal Pictures’ embrace of this project has excited fans. If it is realized with the right cast and management, Just Cause could give audiences unforgettable moments with its action-packed scenes.
