Kawasaki launches its first electric motorcycle models!

Ana sayfa / Electric Vehicles

Along with electric cars, electric motorcycle models are increasing in number every day. Kawasaki, which we know with its racing motorcycles, has now started to sign electric models. The brand, which we saw its electric motorcycles for the first time last year at the 2022 EICMA Milan Motorcycle Fair, is now preparing for the production of two new models.

Kawasaki accelerated its work for electric models

According to the latest information, Kawasaki has started work on two electric models. According to the approval documents that emerged in Australia, the electric motorcycles will carry the model names Ninja e-1 and Z e-1.

The new electric models refer to the 400 cc Ninja 400 and Z400 in terms of design. Inspired by these models in terms of body design, the new electric models seem to have borrowed the wheels and brakes from the Ninja 300 and Z300.

Police can’t recover stolen motorbike based on AirTag data

A Chicago motorcycle owner used an AirTag to track his stolen bike to a garage. However, the police were unable to recover.

Kawasaki stated the power of its electric models as 11 kW (14.75 hp) in its introduction last year. In the approval documents of the models, a power level of 9kW (12 hp) is mentioned. We do not know the reason for this power reduction of up to 20 percent.

According to the files, the weights of the motorcycles are listed as 135 kg for the Z e-1 model and 140 kg for the Ninja e-1. However, there is no mention of the removable batteries that Kawasaki previously stated would power the motorcycles. The company had previously announced that two 12 kg batteries with a total capacity of 3 kWh would power the bikes and could be removed for charging.

Japanese companies seem to be a bit late in developing electric motorcycles compared to other competitors. Until now, Japanese manufacturers have not focused much on electric models other than scooter models. Now it seems that they will start the race for electric models a little behind their competitors.

It seems that the number of electric vehicles around us will increase significantly in the coming days. So what do you think about Kawasaki and electric motorcycle models?
