Disney+ continues to expand its range of local content in the Turkish market. Preparations have begun for the platform’s new original series, Dönence, with one of Turkey’s most popular actors, Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ, in the lead role.
Dönence is coming!
The new series will be a spy-themed story. According to leaked information, Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ will play the character of Ali in this eight-episode production.
The project’s technical crew also brings together notable names. The script for Dönence is being written by Mehmet Bozdağ and Bekir Kerem Kurt, the names behind high-budget historical productions such as Diriliş: Ertuğrul and Kuruluş: Osman.
While the director has not yet been finalized, the filming schedule has been determined. The production team plans to begin filming in March. As part of Disney+’s content strategy in Turkey, Dönence aims to compete in both the local and global markets.
Details about the series’ plot are currently limited, but it’s confirmed to be an action and espionage-themed spy drama. The role and operational background of Ali, played by Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ, will form the central conflict of the series.
Considered one of the highest-budget and most anticipated recent domestic projects on the digital platform, Dönence will enter the editing phase after filming in March. While no official release date has been announced, the second half of 2025 is being considered based on the filming schedule.
