Microsoft continues to push its users to switch to new software. If you are still using old applications, you may soon face some serious consequences. Microsoft is about to impose restrictions on these Windows applications. Here are the details…
Microsoft imposes restrictions on Windows Mail, Calendar, and People applications
According to Dr.Windows, Microsoft plans to gradually deactivate the popular Windows Mail and Calendar applications. These applications will become completely non-functional by the end of 2024. Microsoft aims to replace these services with the new Outlook. Since the new Outlook is designed as a Progressive Web App (PWA), users will need to store their IMAP login information on Microsoft servers.
These changes will begin with restrictions in July and will be completed by September 2024. After that, users will only be able to view existing emails and calendar entries. The functions of sending and receiving emails will be disabled. Additionally, support for the Windows Mail, Calendar, and People applications will end on December 31.
Microsoft is urging users to switch to the new Outlook with these plans. Those who continue to use the old Windows applications will experience significant functionality losses. Therefore, if you are still using Windows Mail and Calendar, we recommend switching to the new Outlook as soon as possible.
By making the transition to the new Outlook mandatory among old Windows applications, Microsoft is sending an important message to its users. If you do not make this transition, you may soon experience major issues with your email and calendar services. What do you think about this change? Is Microsoft’s decision correct?
