Lenovo has placed a total of eight speakers in its new 11.5-inch Tab Plus tablet, with four treble and four bass, which allows the tablet to be used as a Bluetooth speaker. The tablet is particularly notable for its audio performance and its slimness.
One tablet, eight speakers: Lenovo Tab Plus unveiled
Tablets are not known for their impressive bass performance. Lenovo’s new 11.5-inch Tab Plus is here to shatter that perception. With four trebles and four basses, one on each side of the tablet, the Tab Plus produces 26W of sound when used in landscape mode.
To take full advantage of the Tab Plus’ audio capabilities, Lenovo also offers the option to wirelessly connect other devices to the tablet to use it as a Bluetooth speaker.
Powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 octa-core processor paired with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of expandable storage, the Lenovo Tab Plus is definitely not a design tablet.
Lenovo is positioning it primarily as a media consumption device, which is reflected by the fact that the front and rear cameras are both only 8 MP. The tablet comes with Android 14 and Lenovo promises two years of OS updates and four years of security patches.
While the Lenovo Tab Plus’ 11.5-inch 90Hz 2K LCD display is far from top-of-the-range, Lenovo claims that the tablet can keep streaming for up to 12 hours (it’s not specified whether it streams audio or video) with its 8,600 mAh battery. 45W fast charging charges an empty battery in 90 minutes.
For those who prefer to use the tablet as a Bluetooth speaker, there is an integrated protruding bracket on the back. But for those looking for a dedicated listening experience, there’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack that supports 24-bit 96kHz high-resolution audio with Dolby Atmos settings.
A major compromise of the four integrated woofers is a rather prominent bulge on the back of the new Tab Plus. This increases the thickness of the 7.77mm thick tablet to 13.58mm.
Lenovo will, in its own words, only be selling the Tab Plus in select global markets and will be priced at $290 ($9,525). What do you think? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
