European LG Smart TV owners just hit the channel jackpot! LG has officially launched its first free, ad-supported television channel, aptly named LG 1. But that’s not all – the company is also bringing a collection of Sony Pictures’ new free channels, known as Sony One, to LG TVs in several European countries.
This move puts LG in the fast-growing FAST lane (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television), directly competing with established players like Amazon, Pluto TV, Samsung, and Roku. LG 1, available through the existing LG Channels app on 2016 and later LG Smart TVs, is likely just the first of many free channels to come from the company.
