In 2021, LG, which decided to close its smartphone department, was among the popular brands of an era. However, when the company surprisingly ended phone production, it started to turn its focus in other directions.
Now, the company plans to come up with a device for this market again. According to the latest information, LG may make a surprise return to the smartphone market in partnership with Samsung.
LG and Samsung are working on ‘Galaxy ixi-O’
Although LG has put aside the production of its own models, it invests a large part of its capital in the mobile field. The company provides displays to other smartphone manufacturers and appeals to a large share of the South Korean market with its own operator ‘LG Uplus’.
Recently, the company, which wants to expand the advantages of this service, came up with its new voice assistant ixi-O for artificial intelligence (AI) calls. The company’s plans to launch a new smartphone may be related to this.
According to information in South Korean media, LG Uplus wants a new device specially designed for ixi-O and may apply to Samsung for the production of the device. Brands in the Asian country have already reached an agreement to produce the new ‘phone with real artificial intelligence’. It will be manufactured by Samsung specifically for the operator and will combine Galaxy AI functions with LG’s own smart call assistant.
So far, although the device in question is called Galaxy ixi-O, it is known that it still does not have an official name. Sources state that LG’s new model can be sold under the Samsung brand.
This new model, which is expected to appear in the future, indicates that LG will continue to continue its activities in this field, even if it does not completely return to the smartphone market.
So what do you think about LG’s return to the market?
