LG webOS 23 revitalizes older smart TVs

Ana sayfa / News

Starting now, owners of select 2022 LG TV models in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America can look forward to a gradual rollout of the new firmware. If you haven’t received a notification about the upgrade yet, patience is key, as availability of LG WebOS update will vary by model.

webOS 23 is set to transform the smart TV interface with a completely redesigned home screen, offering enhanced functionality for Gaming, Music, and Home Office use. Beyond aesthetic improvements, the update promises significant security enhancements and performance boosts, ensuring a smoother, more secure viewing experience.

This update initiative falls under the umbrella of LG’s webOS Re:New Program. This program is aimed at retroactively updating older models with the latest firmware. This approach ensures that TVs from 2022 onwards receive timely refreshes. LG WebOS update will align them with the features and performance of newly launched models.

The early access beta version of webOS 23 was initially introduced in February to a select group of LG TV users. It is now poised for a broader rollout across LG’s 2022 TV lineup, including its prestigious 8K LCD and OLED displays. Notably, the LG A2 OLED and LG B2 OLED TVs are currently absent from the update list, with their future status remaining unconfirmed by LG.

Key features of the webOS 23 update include performance enhancements, improved stability, and tighter security measures. Additionally, the update introduces a “Helpful tips” section and a “Settings at a glance” feature, simplifying the process of adjusting picture settings.

The newly revamped home screen boasts a larger title card for TV and movie promotions and smoother navigation tiles for categories like Game, Music, and Home Office, further enriching the service functionality within these categories.

2022 LG TVs set to receive the webOS 23 update

As the webOS 23 update begins its rollout to 2022 models, many users are eagerly anticipating future updates, including the sought-after Chromecast functionality. However, LG indicates that such features, aligning with the 2024 LG TV lineup, may not arrive until 2025 at the earliest for older models, as the company focuses on the upcoming webOS 24 release.
