Life is Strange will celebrate its ninth anniversary next year. Despite being an independent production, it reached a significant milestone with massive sales in its eighth year. The narrative-based adventure game solidified its place among gaming enthusiasts, despite some divisive views about its dialogues.
Life is Strange Sells 20 Million Copies
The official Twitter account of the game celebrated this achievement with a Thanksgiving message, expressing gratitude to the players: ‘Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! We have something to be grateful for – the original Life Is Strange reached over 20 million players! We want to thank each and every one of you for playing!’
Originally released about eight years ago, the game garnered overall positive reviews due to its unique storytelling and episodic format. The success of the original game paved the way for numerous sequels and spin-offs within the game universe.
The latest installment in the series, Life Is Strange: True Colors, debuted in 2021 and continued the trend of positive reviews. Developed by Deck Nine, the team behind Life Is Strange: Before the Storm, True Colors pointed to another successful chapter in the series.
The original developer, Don’t Nod, concluded its contribution to the series with Life is Strange 2 in 2018. Earlier this year, the studio teased its next game, reminiscent of the ’90s with a stylistic nostalgic vibe. In addition to this unnamed project, Don’t Nod is also working on the ghost action RPG, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, which was revealed at The Game Awards last year. Originally slated for 2023, the game faced delays and is now scheduled for release on February 13, 2024.
