Apple has finally introduced the M4 processor to the iMac lineup. Compared to previous iMac models, the new chip promises faster performance for both daily tasks and professional solutions. Here are the features and price of the M4 iMac model.
What does M4 iMac promise?
According to Apple, the M4 chip provides a big boost in overall performance. Overall productivity will be up to 1.7 times faster than iMac with M1 processor. Graphics-intensive tasks like photo and video editing promise up to 2.1 times faster performance when applying complex filters and effects.
Gamers will benefit from frame rates twice as fast as before. Accordingly, Apple also shared various images from Civilization VII, which will be fully compatible with the new iMac. On the artificial intelligence side, the Neural Engine in M4 makes it 3 times faster for artificial intelligence tasks.
The redesigned iMac features new color options designed to suit both home and office. A 12-megapixel webcam aims to improve video calls thanks to various filtering features.
Display options now include a nano-texture glass variant to reduce reflections. Color-matched accessories with up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports and USB-C will also be available.
The M4 processor 24-inch iMac with 16GB of standard memory starts at $1299. Deliveries will be made on November 8. According to Apple’s benchmarks, this price puts the new computer in a sweet spot compared to competitors with Intel or AMD processors.
