macOS Ventura 13.4: Third RC version out for developers!

In its quest for perfection, Apple has rolled out the third release candidate (RC) version of macOS Ventura 13.4 to developers. This comes just a week after the second RC was released and is a step closer to the final public version. It’s an unusual move from Apple to release three RCs before the official launch, indicating a meticulous approach to its software development.

Developers, get your hands on it!

Developers who are registered with Apple can download the beta version of the software via the Apple Developer Center. Once the relevant profile is installed, subsequent betas can be accessed through the Software Update mechanism in System Settings.

What’s new in Ventura 13.4?

Apple’s release notes highlight several enhancements and bug fixes in the update. Notably, a Sports feed has been added to the sidebar of Apple News, providing easy access to stories, scores, standings, and more for your favorite teams and leagues.

Other key updates include addressing an issue that prevented the Mac Auto Unlock feature from working with the Apple Watch and fixing a Bluetooth issue that caused keyboards to connect slowly to Mac after restarting. The update also resolves a VoiceOver issue and a problem where Screen Time settings may reset or fail to sync across all devices.

Enhanced beta installation & security content

macOS 13.4 also introduces the simplified beta installation method initially launched in iOS 16.4. With this update, developers and public beta testers can easily toggle on beta updates from System Settings on the Mac, eliminating the need to install a profile.

However, an Apple ID linked to either a public beta account or a developer account is necessary to activate beta updates, meaning that developer profiles not associated with a developer account can no longer be used to install developer betas.
