Major update to Google Maps: Your history will be deleted!

Ana sayfa / News

Google Maps is taking a significant step in protecting your location data, and this change is quite noteworthy. Your data will no longer be stored in the cloud but locally on your device. This means that Google Maps will delete your location history to prevent anyone from tracking where we have been. Here are the details of the important update…

In an email sent to users, Google stated that you have until December 1 to save your trips on your mobile device. Previously, the Timeline feature, known as “Location History,” tracked your routes and trips based on your phone’s location. Now, this information will not be linked to your Google account but to the devices you use.

After December 1, you will not be able to access your Timeline with past records via the web. If you do not activate the new Timeline settings, Google Maps will try to transfer the travel history of the last 90 days to the device you first logged in to, and older data will be deleted.

Traffic jams ending! Google Maps announces new feature

Google Maps introduces a new feature offering color-coded speed recommendations to help prevent traffic congestion. How will it be used?

If you want to continue using the Timeline, you can open it in the Google Maps app by clicking on your profile picture and choose whether you want to delete your data manually or automatically. Google will store this information on your device.

To continue using the Google Maps past Timeline, you can follow these steps:

While setting your preferences, choose how long you want to keep your location history. You can decide whether to delete your data manually or automatically. Google is taking this step to make user data more secure and address privacy concerns.

Previously, they started deleting sensitive locations like abortion clinics, domestic violence shelters, and weight loss centers from location history. Now, they aim to provide more security by storing all location data on your devices.

Don’t forget to update your Timeline settings to avoid losing your data and to enhance your security. What do you think about this change? Do you think Google erasing our past is the right decision? Don’t forget to share your comments with us…
