Marvel’s Wolverine loses a key developer

Exciting developments have occurred for Marvel’s Wolverine, one of the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 titles. According to an exclusive report by Game File, Creative Director Brian Horton, a key figure on the project, has parted ways with Insomniac Games.

According to trusted sources in the industry from Game File, not only Horton but also the Game Director of the project, Cameron Christian, has left his role to transition to a different position within the studio. Following these significant changes, Insomniac Games has appointed seasoned talents Marcus Smith as Creative Director and Mike Daly as Game Director.

The new creative director, Marcus Smith, previously held a similar role in the studio’s 2021 game, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Mike Daly was one of three game directors on the same project. The decision to bring these experienced individuals onto the Wolverine project signals Insomniac’s commitment to maintaining its quality standards.

Brian Horton, who left the project, has decided to continue his career under Microsoft’s Xbox Game Studios umbrella. Horton’s new stop is the Perfect Dark project, a collaboration between The Initiative and Crystal Dynamics. As some may remember, Horton served as Game Director on the 2015 release Rise of the Tomb Raider at Crystal Dynamics, later joined Insomniac after a brief experience with Infinity Ward.

Since its initial announcement, Marvel’s Wolverine has remained one of the most mysterious projects in the gaming world. Official channels have released minimal information about the game since its reveal at the 2021 PlayStation Showcase event. However, in December 2023, a cyberattack led to various details about the project being leaked online.
