The iconic action series Max Payne recently celebrated its 22nd anniversary. However, players who didn’t want to spend this celebration in silence developed an interesting mod. The main character’s appearance in Max Payne 1 and 2 has been carried over to Max Payne 3. The legendary character can now be played in 2012’s title.
Sam Lake becomes Max Payne 3 character with new mod
Sam Lake, the model and story writer of the first Max Payne game, is back in the spotlight on the 22nd anniversary of the series. A mod by a game developer has integrated the character’s iconic look into Max Payne 3.
We actually play as the original Max Payne character in all three games. However, Max Payne 3, released in 2012, features a character with a much different look. Players brought Sam Lake’s image and texture from the first two games to this game.
The mod also brought Lake’s physical movements and clothing to Max Payne 3. Even his classic leather jacket and Hawaiian shirt from the first game are included in the levels set in New York City. In total, the mod developer said he recreated Lake’s look, replacing 98 character models and 66 textures.
The mod made a big impact on social media, especially since it was developed after 10 years. Sam Lake, who did not remain silent on the subject, tweeted that he was glad to return to the series.
Sam Lake, who currently works as creative director at Remedy Entertainment, is best known for his work on Alan Wake and Control. He is also known as the author of the Max Payne story.
