Rockstar announced last year that Max Payne 1 and 2 would return as a remake. After more than a year, the lack of official announcements about the game made players curious. Remedy Entertainment, the developer of the remake, announced that the game has entered the production phase.
Max Payne Remake is in production but not coming soon
Remedy Entertainment shared its financial results and a development progress update for several upcoming titles. Despite the release of Alan Wake 2 in the past few weeks, the decline in revenues showed that the company needs to focus on new productions.
Remedy CEO Tero Virtala discussed the multiplayer version of Control, codenamed Condor. Stating that they have moved from the preparation stage to production, the CEO said that with this production, they will embark on developing service-based games.
In addition to Condor, details about Max Payne Remake were also shared. It was stated that the Remake, which will combine the first and second game in a single production, is ready for production. According to the statement, the developer has prepared the style of the project and determined how to modernize the beloved game.
It should also be noted that Max Payne Remake, which will be developed with the Northlight Engine game engine, is funded by Rockstar.
While Remedy has accelerated its work on these two titles, Control 2 is still on hold. Details about the new game, which will be the sequel to Control released in 2019, are unclear for now.
