In recent years, with the development of autonomous and electric vehicles, the automotive sector has embarked on a new path. Now, moves are being made by mobile processor manufacturers as well. According to the latest announcements, MediaTek and NVIDIA have joined forces to produce four new automotive chips. From the recent efforts made by MediaTek, it seems they aim to transfer their success in the mobile processor sector to the automotive sector, targeting a new market. According to official announcements, the semiconductor giant has launched the Dimensity Auto Cockpit processor series for automobiles, with the first four processors in the series already announced.

According to the statements, the processors, which will have internet connectivity and provide vehicles with autonomous driving support, undergo a 3 nm fabrication process. Additionally, it should be noted that they feature ARM V9-A processor cores and NVIDIA’s RTX GPU.

The model numbers of the processors are respectively CM-1, CV-1, CX-1, and CY-1. There is a significant difference among them. Accordingly, CV-1 is entry-level, CM-1 is mid-range, CY-1 is more expensive, and CX-1 is premium, providing power to luxury vehicles.

These processors, which also benefit from NVIDIA’s artificial intelligence technologies, will meet the entertainment, navigation, and general information needs of the vehicle. The MediaTek Dimensity Auto Cockpit series, expected to rival chips produced by Samsung and Qualcomm, will also be able to power four high-resolution screens.

These chips, which will support in-car media controls, call controls, and in-car gaming, will also enable up to ten cameras and different sensors for supported driving. Lastly, it should be noted that the processors will be able to run multiple operating systems such as Android Auto, Linux, QNX, and Apple Car.
