Mercedes Baby-G EQ keeps the G-Class legacy in compact form

The Mercedes Baby-G EQ has finally shown its face sort of. Fresh spy shots out of Stuttgart reveal a heavily camouflaged prototype, but the silhouette is unmistakable. Mercedes-Benz is clearly shrinking the G-Class, not softening it. This electric SUV channels the boxy DNA of its iconic sibling but in a more compact, city-friendly shape.

Despite the camouflage, a few signature elements punch through. The squared-off body, side-opening tailgate, and exposed spare tire all scream G-Class. Even the circular daytime running lights tucked into deep front recesses mirror the full-size model’s design.

Details spotted on the prototype include:

From roofline to stance, this electric SUV looks ready for trails and tight parking spots alike.

Philips Hue app update lands with stability fixes

Philips Hue app version 5.56 rolls out with bug fixes and stability tweaks, as users await key smart home features.

While it wears its heritage proudly, the Baby-G EQ doesn’t feel dated. There’s a modern edge to the design, hinting at Mercedes’ intent to widen its reach. By downsizing the G-Class and pairing it with an electric drivetrain, the company could be angling for a younger, more urban buyer.

The compact size, likely paired with all-wheel drive and G-Class capability, could make it a hit among drivers who want the look without the bulk. And while no interior photos have surfaced, expect Mercedes to load it with tech to match its EQ lineup.

The Baby-G EQ may be small, but it’s stepping into big shoes. The G-Class name carries weight and this prototype suggests Mercedes plans to carry that weight with confidence. If this is a teaser for what’s to come, it’s one worth watching. The box may be smaller, but the attitude is still full-size.
