Automobile giants do not neglect to revise their vehicle designs in the transition to electric engines. Finally, Mercedes-Benz unveiled its new electric vehicle, the CLA Concept. The futuristic-looking electric car promises a range of up to 750 km with its “ultra-efficient” powertrain.
What does the Mercedes-Benz CLA Concept promise?
Mercedes claims that the CLA Concept will provide a range of over 750 km on a single charge. With an average energy consumption of just 12.0 kWh per 100 km, it focuses on efficiency. The CLA Concept can also achieve a range of up to 400 km in 15 minutes thanks to its fast charging feature.
Based on the CLA models, the new concept has a chassis 4.74 meters long, 1.95 meters wide and 21-inch alloy wheels. The highlight of the concept is the closed grille decorated with 274 illuminated stars.
Inside the vehicle, the entire instrument panel is designed as an electronic display. This screen, called MBUX Superscreen, is made of mini-LED panel and features 3D graphics on three separate screens. Powered by Nvidia chips, the panel has a completely new MB-OS operating system.
Mercedes also drew attention with its new engine, which is lighter than previous electric models. The electric motor weighs only 110 kg and can produce 235 hp (175 kW / 238 PS).
Mercedes-Benz Chief Technology Officer Markus Schäfer said the CLA Concept will serve as a template for new models. The automaker wants to take on brands like Tesla and BYD in key markets, including China.
