Meta has removed payments to Reels content creators on Instagram and Facebook. With this move, Meta has already discouraged Reels creators. Many Reels creators are already looking for alternatives.
Reels content creators can now only receive bonus payouts
Meta used to charge Reels videos on Instagram and Facebook based on the number of views. Many competitors are already using this payment system. For example, TikTok is the most popular and its biggest competitor.
This method, where many people make a living, encourages people to produce such content. Therefore, in the coming days, Meta may see that most content producers will be deactivated, although it does not lose many users.
Reels creators could earn up to $35,000. But with the new method, this seems unlikely. Meta will now pay creators based on bonuses. This means that the payments will be based on a reward system, not based on the number of views.
Meta is currently phasing out payments as it prepares to expand ads on Reels to enable more equitable revenue-sharing arrangements for creators. While the payments were suspended, Meta started testing for the new system. According to the statements from Meta officials, the company will thus enable more content creators to generate advertising revenue.
In addition, it is aimed that more users will reach virtual gifts through the Stars on Reels program. Although a more balanced distribution is aimed, this situation seems to upset the popular content producers with a lot of views.
We don’t know when Reels’ bonus payout system will start, but the suspension of the current payout system means it won’t last long.
