The fact that the platforms bring similar features to each other in the social media world has had a great impact on the formation of competition. Especially the competition between Facebook and TikTok has been felt quite a lot lately. Now, Facebook and Instagram owner Meta is testing a new live streaming platform that could rival Twitch.

Meta started testing ‘Super’

According to a report, Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta is quietly testing a live streaming platform called ‘Super’. According to the details, the company has been testing with content producers for a while.

The new platform, called Super, will allow users to host interactive live streams for ad revenue. The project is in testing with at least 100 creators, but is said to have been in development since 2020. The Bloomberg report likened the platform to Cameo, which lets people pay celebrities for private messages and interactions.

The platform, which appears to have functionality similar to Twitch, is currently in testing with people including Andru Edwards and TikTok star Vienna Skye. For now, Super runs on a tiered system where viewers pay for access to streaming features.

This move by Meta comes after Facebook recently shut down its Live Shopping feature to increase focus on Reels. Experts consider Super to be a marketplace for content creators. There is no information about when the platform, which is still in the testing phase, will be opened to users.

The Twitch platform is still popular, even though it had many competitors before. Youtube Gaming, Facebook Gaming, YouNow to name a few. These platforms, which also transfer the most watched broadcasters on Twitch with high fees, are still not as popular as Twitch. Do you think Meta is promising with this new platform? Would you use this platform called Super if it came out? Please share with us in the comments.
