Meta Quest 3 Gets a Feature to Turn It into an External Monitor!

Ana sayfa / News

Now, with Meta’s new HDMI Link app, the Quest 2, 3, and Pro headsets can be used as external monitors. This update is especially beneficial for users experiencing issues with wireless connections. Here’s what the new feature offers:

Meta’s HDMI Link app allows you to use Quest headsets as external displays when connected to a PS5, PC, or other devices. However, there is a key requirement: you need a capture card to use this app.

You can’t directly connect your Quest headset to a device via HDMI cable. Instead, you need to connect the capture card to your headset and then link your device to this card. This setup enables you to turn your VR headset into a display with 1080P resolution at 60FPS.

Game Cancelled! Meta Shuts Down GTA: San Andreas Project

The GTA: San Andreas VR project has disappointed those who were looking forward to it. Meta has indefinitely suspended the project.

Although the new HDMI Link app for Meta Quest headsets is quite functional, it has some limitations. For instance, the app cannot display HDCP-protected content. Therefore, if you want to view certain content or movies from a PS5, you might need to disable HDCP protection. Additionally, the app only supports 1080P resolution, which might be disappointing for those expecting higher resolutions.

Wired connections typically offer lower latency and more stable performance, but the need for a capture card and the limitation to 1080P resolution might make this app less appealing to some users.

What do you think about the HDMI Link app? Do the advantages of wired connections make them more attractive compared to wireless options? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
