Meta announced a new chapter in wearable technology at its annual Meta Connect 2025 event. The new smart glasses series, unveiled with a presentation by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, stands out with the Meta Ray-Ban Display model, which stands out with its integrated display in the right lens. These glasses, paired with the Meta Neural Band, which enables control with hand gestures, aim to bring the augmented reality experience to everyday life.

Starting at $799, the Meta Ray-Ban Display features a waveguide display in the right lens with a resolution of 600×600 pixels and a brightness of 500 nits. One of the glasses’ most innovative features, the Meta Neural Band, offers 18 hours of battery life and water resistance, and enables simple hand gestures for navigating the interface, replying to messages, and making selections.

The glasses also feature an AI assistant that processes audio and video data to provide users with instant information. The product, available in black and sand, will hit shelves on September 30th.

This wasn’t the only product unveiled at Meta Connect 2025. The company also announced the $329 Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2), capable of 3K video recording and offering 8 hours of battery life, and the $499 Oakley Meta Vanguard, designed for athletes and featuring a 12MP wide-angle camera and integration with apps like Strava.

Meta’s new smart glasses are positioned as practical companion devices for tasks like checking notifications, sending quick messages, and receiving instant information, rather than replacing smartphones. However, bearing the Meta brand name inevitably raises concerns about data privacy, and the company’s actions in this area are eagerly awaited.
