One of the most remarkable series in the gaming world, Metal Gear Solid, has been captivating players for years, and its creator, Hideo Kojima, is currently fully immersed in developing Death Stranding 2. As the anticipation for the game’s release grows, Kojima has shared the first insights into his new project. Here’s what’s on the mind of the mad-genius of the gaming world…
Kojima: “My game will be talked about for centuries!”
Hideo Kojima, the mastermind behind groundbreaking titles like Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding, has once again made waves in the gaming world. In an interview with Japan’s Anan News, Kojima shared his ambition to create games that would not only speak to today’s players but also appeal to future generations. He even suggested that one day, aliens might discover and enjoy his games.
The famous game developer emphasized the importance of creating a game that would personally satisfy him, stating, “I could never release a game that doesn’t have my approval.” For Kojima, the primary value of a game starts within the creator’s own vision. He explained that he strives to ensure his games are at the highest level to endure the evolving artistic standards over time.
Kojima remarked, “Art evaluation standards change over time. Just as paintings are appraised long after an artist’s death, games and movies should also serve as legacies passed down through generations.” He believes in creating works that will speak to all generations.
Kojima’s bold statements do not end there. He also made striking comments about one of his new projects, the highly anticipated horror game ‘OD’. “It’s a bit of a risky project; it will be unique in its own way,” Kojima said, expressing confidence that this game, like his other works, will also have a lasting impact.
What do you think about Kojima’s statements? Is he being overly ambitious, or do you think he can back up his words? Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments.
