The wait was finally over for Scarab fans and the second movie was announced. Starring Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder, the new trailer for the sequel was released yesterday. The trailer features the return of Keaton’s ghost character Beetlejuice 2 and Ryder’s efforts to save Lydia Deetz’s daughter Astrid.

The new Beetlejuice 2 trailer heralds the return of Michael Keaton’s iconic ghost character Beetlejuice. This time, Lydia Deetz, played by Winona Ryder, summons the Scarab to save her daughter Astrid.
Jenna Ortega plays the role of Astrid. The trailer shows an adventure set in a dark and stylish Otherworld. There are many scenes referencing the original movie, such as a musical number, a crawling severed hand (Hello, Wednesday Addams!) and even a crowd being pulled to their phones. In short, this movie will provide audiences with chaotic entertainment.
The official synopsis of the movie reads: “The Wicked Beetle returns! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return to Winter River. Still haunted by the Beetle, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter Astrid discovers the town’s mysterious model in the attic and accidentally opens the portal to the Otherworld. As trouble brews in both realms, it’s only a matter of time before someone says the name of the Beetlejuice three times and the mischievous demon unleashes his trademark mayhem.”
Tim Burton returns to the director’s chair for The Beetlejuice 2, with the script written by Wednesday producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. The film’s large cast includes Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci, Catherine O’Hara and Danny DeVito. Winona Ryder recently revealed that she met secretly with Burton to try to bring the sequel to life. “I was meeting with him at times that even my agents didn’t know about,” Ryder said.
The original Beterbug movie was released in 1988, so this sequel has been long awaited. Beetlejuice 2 will be released in theaters on September 6, just in time for Halloween.
