Microsoft ‘accidentally’ removes Windows 11 Recall

Ana sayfa / Windows

Microsoft developed a feature called Recall for Windows 11 a while ago. This feature, which would create shortcuts by tracking users’ movements, was suspended due to security concerns. Last week, it was seen that the feature was completely removed from Windows. However, Microsoft announced that it removed the Recall feature by mistake.

Some Windows 11 users have revealed that Recall support can be removed via Control Panel. However, Microsoft said that this was just a bug and that they did not disable the new feature.

Recall is planned as an AI-powered feature to help with tasks such as remembering past conversations or documents. For this, users need to take screenshots of what they do on their computers. Of course, this has raised security concerns.

The charging features of the Galaxy S24 FE model, developed by Samsung and expected to be introduced in the coming months, have been unveiled.

In the last Windows build, KB5041865, Recall was listed as an optional feature. This led some users to believe they would have the right to uninstall the feature when it became available.

Microsoft Senior Product Manager Brandon LeBlanc said in a statement that Recall was incorrectly listed and will be removed from optional Windows features in the next update. He confirmed that they are not currently giving users the ability to remove Recall.

Microsoft plans to roll out Recall on Copilot+ PCs with Windows Hello authentication. Screenshots will also be stored in an encrypted database, addressing security concerns. Of course, it will be optional for Windows Insiders.
