Microsoft shared some important announcements with the June 2024 updates. Windows 11 24H2 preview distribution was stopped the other day. Official support for Windows 10 21H2 has ended. Accordingly, the company will automatically upgrade users to Windows 10 22H2.
End of support for Windows 10 21H2
The latest update package shared by Microsoft brings security fixes and new features for Windows and other Microsoft products. In this context, the company announced that Windows 10 version 21H2 has been shelved as of June 11, 2024.
As of last month, 21H2 was the last flock to receive monthly security updates via Windows Update. PCs with Windows 10 21H2 will be automatically updated to Windows 10 22H2 to stay current. Microsoft will automatically update users to Windows 10 Version 22H2, even if they have not expressed a preference for it.
Microsoft emphasized the importance of keeping devices up to date through 22H2. The company is also encouraging businesses and individual accounts using Windows 10 to upgrade to Windows 11. Offering a free upgrade, the company also promises artificial intelligence features such as Copilot.
On the other hand, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 and Windows 10 IOT Enterprise LTSC 2021 business versions will continue to receive updates for a while. Microsoft will provide support for these systems until 2027 and 2032.
As of June, 21H2 support was completed. While the automatic update is moving computers to 22H2, Microsoft’s efforts to upgrade to Windows 11 continue.
