Microsoft is laying off 6,000 people!

The company’s total number of employees is at 228,000. It was reported that the layoffs are not limited to certain departments and will affect many important positions in international offices, including LinkedIn. The company emphasized in a statement that the change is “essential for success in a dynamic market.”

Microsoft CFO Amy Hood hinted in a speech she made in recent weeks that the management structure would be simplified. Hood stated that they aimed to create more agile and high-performance teams with fewer managers.

In addition to these layoffs, Microsoft implemented various staff reductions in 2025. In the first months of the year, hundreds of employees were dismissed based on performance. In 2024, 1,900 people were laid off from the Activision Blizzard and Xbox departments, and around 1,000 people from the HoloLens and Azure teams.
